New Assistant Pastry Chef Appointed At Table Bay Hotel

Sun International is pleased to announce a new addition to the esteemed culinary team at The Table Bay Hotel, Assistant Executive Pastry Chef Bhupender Kumar. A graduate of the Delhi Institute of Hotel Management, Kumar’s experience includes service at some of India’s most reputable dining establishments.

Most recently, Kumar acted as a consultant to Wellness Warehouse Café in Kloof Street, Cape Town where he was responsible for the daily production of health-wise pastries, training of staff, new products and supervision of Indian meals and cake production.

Prior to this, he was Pastry Chef for Princess Cruise lines from December 2007 to January 2011. He had also worked for the cruise line from May 2004 to January 2006.

Kumar’s passion for the culinary arts was sparked as an apprentice at the ITC Maurya Sheraton Hotel in New Delhi. Whilst in India he worked at several hotels including Le Royal Meridien and ITC Hotel Grand Maratha Sheraton Towers, in Mumbai.

In February 2006 he married a South African and relocated to Cape Town where he joined Super Spar as Head Confectioner and did a stint at Lagoon Beach Hotel.

At The Table Bay Hotel, Kumar’s responsibilities will require him to research recipe concepts and develop and test new recipes. He will also be involved in all the necessary preparation of the various desserts, pastries and cakes.
