Gearing Up For Summer At The Table Bay Hotelon October 17, 2011
Throughout October, there are a number of fantastic events and activities taking place in and around Cape Town, as everybody gets ready for the summer season. Between celebrating the great outdoors and cherishing South Africa’s marine resources, there’s more than enough to keep you busy this month. Best of all, visitors can enjoy all of these October happenings from the spectacular surrounds of The Table Bay Hotel.
Celebrating National Marine Month
October is National Marine Month – a government initiative aimed at creating awareness of South Africa’s precious marine resources. To celebrate National Marine Month, The Table Bay’s Atlantic Grill restaurant is offering a special environmentally-friendly South African Sustainable Seafood Initiative menu. The menu combines The Atlantic Grill’s trademark gourmet culinary flare with sustainable produce sourcing.
Outdoors in the October Sunshine
Of course, October also sees spring in full swing as we glide towards summer and the festive season. Visitors to The Table bay will have ample opportunity to soak up the growing sunshine and experience The Mother City’s beautiful natural surrounds firsthand.
For those in shape and eager to expend energy, there are two major mountain bike events in October – both on the same weekend. The Fair Cape Mountain Bike Challenge takes place on 22 October, offering participants the chance to wend their way through Durbanville’s private farms, experiencing the spectacular 360˚ views of the Boland Mountains and Cape Peninsula. The following day, The Genadendal MTB Mission offers visitors the chance to experience the historical heritage of Genadendal, the first and oldest mission station in South Africa.
For those a bit less athletically-inclined, Cape Town’s beauty can be enjoyed at a slightly more relaxed pace with the Elgin Open Gardens event, from 29 October – 6 November. The event sees various private gardens and wineries open their doors to the public. Visitors can enjoy a range of rare and unusual plant-life, purchase similarly exotic flora and relax in the verdant backdrop with tea and wine tastings.
Make sure you are there to experience all this and more this month at The Table Bay Hotel!
