Street Kids meet the Manchester United Teamon July 24, 2012
Street kids from The Homestead were very excited to meet the Manchester United team today (20 July) at the Table Bay Hotel. The Homestead is a Community Social Investment project that the hotel has supported for over 11 years. Street kids are typically distrustful of charity organisations but the Homestead shelter in Woodstock, Cape Town has managed to overcome their inherent cynicism and many kids use it as a base to get a meal, have a shower and particularly in winter, find warmer clothes.
The kids, all avid Red Devil fans, were uncharacteristically overawed during the meet and greet but got more boisterous when they enjoyed an opportunity to kick around a ball and pick up some footballing tips from their heroe’s.
