New General Manager Eyes Bright Futureon November 17, 2011
Sherwin Banda has been appointed as the new General Manager of The Table Bay Hotel . A man with global experience in the hospitality industry, as well as a clear idea of what he wants, Banda is looking to use his prodigious know how to improve upon The Table Bay’s already legendary service . His management philosophy of highly-personalised service and standards make him the perfect match for Sun International.
Fostering Relationships and Embracing Technology
Banda is determined to provide Table Bay guests with an unmatched experience. The new General Manager’s ethos is based upon old-fashioned principles of client relationship-building.
As Banda himself asserts, “I want to enhance our service levels in a personal and meaningful way by going back to our roots. The Table Bay will provide a unique South African experience yet offered in a way that meets our international guests’ expectations.”
“As hoteliers,” he points out, “we get to play an active role in creating memories. It is easy to do something special for someone, to treat a guest as though they are family. In this way The Table Bay will be remembered and we start to create a history with someone.”
Banda’s traditionalist values, however, are coupled with a progressive streak and a willingness to embrace the benefits of technological innovation to realise his vision. He is already championing the implementation of a hand-held customer relations system which will render traditional check-ins obsolete and enable hotel staff to provide guests with hotel services and information whenever and whenever they are required.
The Table Bay’s new General Manager is a man whose words carry the weight of years of international experience. Although Cape Town born and bred – having studied Law at the University of the Western Cape and Public Relations at the Academy of Learning Institute – Banda has spent much of his 15 years in the hospitality industry abroad.
Most notably, Banda spent 7 years in the US, working for Luxe Hotels in Los Angeles. Whilst with Luxe Hotels, he was Director of Brand Standards and Training, General Manager of Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel and Director of Operations of Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel. In the heart of the playground of Hollywood’s rich and famous, Banda ensured service standards were unparalleled, earning a reputation for excellence within the industry.
It is for this very reason that Banda was appointed as General Manager of The Table Bay. The hotel is only interested in hiring the very best, because it is only interested in providing its guests with the very best.
