Valentine’s Day may be pedestrian and clichéd, but who wouldn’t love a night out with their favourite man. Turn the tables on him this Valentine’s Day and treat him to an elegant dinner at Table Bay Hotel on Thursday 14 February in the Atlantic Grill. The hotel has put together a set menu for R450 per person which includes a glass of Graham Beck Brut on arrival, entertainment and a small gift.
There is also a wine pairing available (R750 per person), so if he’s a wine aficionada this extravagance could be the path to clamour your way right into his heart.
Hold nothing back; put on that little black dress, stilettos and La Perla lingerie that you’ve been saving for the right occasion and spoil your man, or the man with potential, to a romantic dinner. The menu reads like a steamy romance novel – the ‘Smokin’ starter course is a smoked tomato consommé with roasted capsicum hearts. The ‘Sharing is Caring’ second course is a fish dish of sous vide scallop (sweet and succulent), prawns, house smoked trout and baby vegetables with homemade aioli. The third course, ‘Sweet Springbokkie’ is a delicious offering of Juniper Springbok and wild mushroom terrine with port espresso and sprinklings of chocolate dust beetroot or for those who like it HOT, the peppered bluefish with confit tomato and fennel, apple-chilli dust and chervil beurre blanc is quite simply divine.
End the evening with an artisanal South African cheese platter with homemade biscuits and preserves, a champagne and rose pearls sorbet and the ‘Sweet Interlude’ – a strawberry mirror cake, swan puffs and raspberry leather (it’s not what you’re thinking ladies! It’s essentially a fruit roll-up) followed by friandises and coffee.
This menu is a sure thing and it’s likely to catapult him right over the edge… what you do with him afterwards is up to you.
