Celebrate the Festive Season at The Table Bay Hotel
The Christmas season in Cape Town offers a different experience as hot sunny day’s season the festive mix. It’s essentially an outdoor celebration. Long sun drenched days on the beach, chilled cocktails at sunset which usually takes place at around nine in the evening followed by a leisurely dinner.
Perhaps it’s because the weather is hot and sultry and everyone loves a good party but no one celebrates Christmas with more verve and enthusiasm than South African’s. This holiday period is a time for fun, family and food.
Sun International’s Table Bay Hotel puts its own stamp on the season and at every turn there’s rejoicing. Add some sparkle to your Christmas Eve celebration in the Atlantic. The a la carte menu has been given an African twist and is sure to put you in the mood for some serious celebrating, for it is here, that you will be able to soak up the aroma’s, taste the diverse melting pot of cultures, touch history and listen to the sound of waves crashing against rocks laden with sea-weed.
Partake of the groaning Christmas Day buffet of festive gourmet treats, from traditional favourites to something more contemporary in the Atlantic or Ballroom. This is a wonderful occasion to celebrate with loved ones, memorable food and good cheer. Christmas Dinner is a feast for the senses with an a la carte menu being offered in the Atlantic and on Boxing Day, another buffet banquet awaits in the Conservatory.
New Year’s Eve is seen as a time of hope and new beginnings, a time to forget the old and embrace the new. Celebrate with pomp and style as you step into the Arabian world of Scheherazade. The air resounds with the crash of cymbals, music and cheer. Only 160 guests will have the chance to enjoy a sparkling cocktail reception in the Palm Court followed by a buffet dinner in the Ballroom and a champagne toast at midnight whilst watching the fireworks over the Atlantic – R2 100 per person.
Party like Louis XIV – the feasts held at the Château de Versailles, the former home of Louis XIV, are remembered today as the finest examples of Gallic gastronomy and in perfect emulation of this excessive style, guests of the Table Bay Hotel will mark the end of 2012 in regal style; dining on a six-course dinner menu of classic baroque French dishes in the Atlantic. We’ll start you off with oysters, escargot and rabbit rillete pate. The soup (Les Potages) dishes include a mini soup trio, Cauliflower soup with poached quail’s egg, Bisque with scallop garnish and cepe consommé with summer truffles and pickled enoki mushrooms.
The second service includes house smoked salmon with apple puree, herbs and edible flowers followed by a palate cleanser. Then you’ll have to choose between pan seared organic duck breast with brandied prune and duck confit potato marquis or Crisp sole Marie Antoinette. There’s a choice of three alléchant desserts, chocolat trois fois, Gateau chocolat, Chocolate marquis fleur de lis or the sorbet pedestal. The Final service (c’est fromage) features an artisanal cheese selection. The cost is R2 200 per person.
